In this project students jumped into one of the most difficult and dark portions of American History: the 1900's fight for civil rights. Students studied the unfair housing practices in our past and present and how they have created segregated and socially unjust neighborhoods throughout America. Students unpacked topics like redlining, gentrification, white flight, and bloackbusting. Students then developed their own social experiment to see if unlawful housing practices were still alive in their communities today. What came next was one of the most impactful and inspirational pieces of student work I have been privileged to be apart of.
